Because King Saul feared man above the Lord leading to rebellion against God’s command, the Lord rejected Saul as King. The annihilation of Amalek was to foreshadow the final judgment. So, Saul’s sparing Agag and the best of the flocks failed to convey the wrath of God against ungodliness. Because fear of man deafens us to the Lord, we quiet fear by faith in Christ.
