God with Us to Restrain Evil

Though the LORD judged Saul, the LORD was with David to restrain the evil spirit that troubled Saul. Remembering that David is a kind of model prototype of the Messiah, we are reminded of Jesus’ much more powerful binding of the strong man, Satan, and the plundering of his house. And if you are in Christ, the Lord uses you to overcome evil with good. Because the Lord is sovereign over all things, He is with His people to restrain evil.
